Methods to Reduce the Chances of Hypertension

Hypertension or High blood pressure often shows symptoms in the Stage 2 of this condition. That’s why it is known as a silent killer. The change in our lifestyles is majorly responsible for the increase in hypertension. This disease has grabbed the entire nation which is well proved by the fact that you will find at least one patient of hypertension in every family.

Here are few methods which will help to curb the disastrous hypertension.

  1. Exercise:

Going for a brisk walk everyday will certainly reduces the chances of getting hypertension. If you are already a patient of hypertension then avoid heavy exercises and prefer normal morning walk at slower pace.

  1. Low Fat Diet

Hypertension Patients should immediately switch to a low fat diet. All the saturated oils such as butter, ghee and vanaspati should be avoided. It would be better if the vegetables are cooked without oil but in case oil has to be used, you can use olive oil or canola oil. Fried and junk food should be strictly avoided. Eat fruits with their cover and include fiber rich diet.

  1. Stop tobacco

Chewing tobacco in any form causes deterioration of the artery lining and can narrow down them. This further leads to Hypertension and in some cases can lead to blockage of the arteries.

  1. Stop Alcohol Intake

Drinking uncontrollable alcohol not only damages your liver but poses a severe threat to your cardiac muscles. Alcohol may also interfere with the medication you are following to curb hypertension.

  1. Reduce Salt intake

You should reduce you salt intake if you are suffering from hypertension. In fact, salt intake should be to a minimum level even for the normal patients. Salt contains sodium which makes the body to retain the fluids, ultimately leading to high blood pressure.

 

  1. More potassium intake

Good potassium intake is very essential for the body as it helps cells to balance out excess sodium intake. As high sodium intake may lead in retaining fluids by the cells, thereby increasing the blood pressure. You should opt for foods rich in potassium such as potatoes, orange juice, yogurt, banana, pistachios, lentils etc.

  1. Increase Vitamin D intake

Vitamin D helps in striking a balance in your blood pressure by affecting the enzymes produced by the kidneys. You can have a vitamin D supplement or take good sunlight which is the good sources of Vitamin D.

  1. Stress Management

The best way for bursting stress is to think positive and mediate for about 15 minutes everyday. Don’t let negative thoughts ponder you. Tension/anxiety is the biggest cause of Hypertension and strokes. Leading a stress free life is actually the essence of a healthy life.

  1. Yoga

The best treatment for hypertension is opting for Yoga asana. You can take follow video tutorials from YouTube or we would recommend if done under the guidance of a yoga Instructor.

  1. Smoking

Active and passive smoking both are injurious to health and worsens it if you are a patient of hypertension. So stop smoking and avoid going into the smoking zones.

Moving to healthy lifestyles can greatly reduce and cover up hypertension. So, eat healthy and stay healthy.
