“Ayurveda” is derived from sanskrit meaning “Science of life”. Ayurveda follows a very holistic approach towards the food which is fed to the body. The essence of Ayurveda lies in the fact that “if you have a clean stomach, proper bowel movement and good digestive tract, not a single disease can touch you”. The science believes that whatever we eat, holds a direct relation to the health of our mind and soul. I am sharing some very easy and effective ayurvedic suggestions for a great healthy body.
-
Drink water empty stomach in the morning
During sleep, we are in a natural state of fasting, so eating solids immediately after waking up can prove harmful for the stomach. As per ayurveda, after waking up and brushing the teeth have a glass of water preferably warm or at room temperature. This will flush out all the toxins in the body as well as promote a good bowel movement.
-
Maintain a Routine
Ayurveda lays stress on having a daily routine and strictly following it. You should have fixed sleeping and waking time. According to Ayurveda, liver cleanses the body at 12 am midnight and we should be asleep at that time. Not only sleeping and waking, there should be a strict time schedule for eating, walking and other routine activities as well.
-
Never suppress natural urges
You should never suppress body urges such as urinating, burping, and coughing. We live in a civilized society, and believe that burping can hamper the image. Right? But suppressing these activities eventfully prove to be more harmful to the body. When we suppress these activities, it leads to gas formation in the body which may cause breathing problems, stomach problems or bloating.

Practice Yoga/ walking
Some amount of physical activity is very essential for the body. It helps in the release of endorphins which are also called as feel good hormones. Try to maximise walking such as taking staircase rather than opting for elevators or lifts. Yoga can be a good alternative to exercise. Yoga aims for the purity of body and soul.
-
Stay positive
Stay optimistic in every phase of life. Life is full of surprises, both good and bad. We never know what is stored ahead in future for us. So, stop worrying about future and live in your present. A better present would result in a worthier tomorrow.
-
No water with meals
Include a good amount of fibre in your diet. This will eliminate assimilation and ingestion of food. Eat your food hot and do not take water with it. This will dilute the acids present in the stomach which helps in the digestion. Having appetisers before the meals is a good option. Do not eat till you feel hungry else it will lead to kapha disorders.
Just include these simple yet effective ayurvedic suggestions in your lifestyle and feel the magical difference.
